Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
Hello all.

After many many years of looking but not touching the WHO site, all things West Ham are currently so monumentally, gargantuanly, earth shatteringly shit that I have bitten the bullet and actually bothered to get a login. The reason why, and I am now putting my crash helmet on, is that on Friday I actually heard some good news.

The current era should be coming to an end soon as it seems that there is a sale in the pipeline. Two competing bids, one Middle East one US. The price for the club has more or less been struck. I was told by someone actually at the table “If it doesn’t happen this summer I’ll be fucking amazed” one bid even wants to keep the Olympic Stadium for music, NFL, MLB etc and build a bespoke stadium for football still in Newham. Now, the current openers have been known to alter goalposts but the signs are v v promising. Even relegation would not scupper the interest although the price would reduce slightly and that may not play out well with the current buffoons.

I thought long and hard before joining/posting, happy to take a bit of shit but I promise you the talks are genuine. I have no skin in this game.

As far as I’m concerned I grew up In the 70s and 80s loving West Ham, couldn’t actually have lived closer to the ground, lived for football, played it or watched it non stop but sadly find myself estranged from the game now. Only been to the Olympic Stadium once, it’s just not for me. Im just too nostalgic for freezing nights in midwinter somewhere in the Chicken Run or South Bank, the smell of cigarette smoke, stale beer and fried onions and the sound of thousands of us that were together, the peanut seller and occasionally the poor fuckers that didn’t support us, in short the sort of atmosphere that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. We didn’t follow West Ham for glory, we knew whoever owned us would take the piss but this lot are different, venal, dishonest and insidious. I’m hoping their going could spark a reawakening for me. I’ll take my kids to West Ham as my grandad did for me. When I do that however Id just prefer it well run and managed with players that give a shit and would run through brick walls for the cause. We could make our home a cauldron again as it was once. Wouldn’t that be nice.

Anyway, I probably won’t post often, I Just wanted to share a little light at the end of the tunnel. Nice to meet you all virtually, even you Hairy (see, I told you I’ve been a long time watcher)...

Cheers

FFS, as the man said, it’s the hope I can’t stand.

Nice opening post CC!

Sounds positive if true.

If this summer is allegedly the timeframe, then I wonder about the impact of relegation.

To be honest if you knew this to be true, I doubt you would post it as the person who told you would never trust you again.

Plus it’s just a summary of what has been in the papers for the last week.

I pray that it is true and I may get my season ticket back.

We can but hope.
GSB will walk away with a massive profit and it’s obvious the club is going nowhere except down at the moment.

As I understand it most of Sullivan’s fortune is tied up in commercial retail property so he may be feeling the squeeze at the moment.
As much as someone worth hundreds of millions can.

Whoah. We've got a new poster and nobody has called him a cunt yet?

Now that's out the way. I hope he's right.

Re: Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
I have not said anything specific deliberately - The person I’m friends with doesn’t have any interest in football let alone WHO. I know the talks are not BS. I am not nor will l I ever claim to be ITK on other things. I honestly wanted to try and cheer people up. I haven’t read a paper since the Cummings fiasco. I’m off news in general in fact. You can believe that or not. I’m pretty sceptical about everything myself and would probably think the same as you if I read it on a noticeboard. No offence taken

We'd be hard pressed to find owners worse than the collection of absolute cunts we've had for decades.
Cearns, brown and gsb.

I had high Hope's for the Icelandic mob and who knows how that would have turned our had they not gone bankrupt and left us financially fucked.

None meant (which is unusual on here) and to be honest I think we will be taken over eventually and think Tripp Smith is behind it all. I just can’t see them selling if we get relegated.

I still think Sullivan sees his legacy as leaving this club to his kid. I feel like we’ll be stuck with them in some capacity, though I really do hope I’m fucking wrong.

“ one bid even wants to keep the Olympic Stadium for music, NFL, MLB etc and build a bespoke stadium for football still in Newham”

If you hadn’t have included this you might have had me.

This is an absolute non starter and anyone serious about buying the club enough to have sat down and be ‘almost there’ would know that.

Welcome CC, I hope you’re right but I’ll take yr news with a bucket of salt.

Where did you hear this news? Sounds like someone has just read the Mail article and put 2 & 2 together.

Re: Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
I struggle with the idea that someone/anyone would decide to spend north of half a billion on a new stadium when we've got one already, ignoring shortcomings - with the idea of using the current one for other stuff.

How many NFL matches could there be? Tottenham have that contract for the next seven years. Three MLB matches. Can't be THAT many concerts. The odd rugby match? I just can't see it making that much money without us in it.

Thinking about it, it can't work. WH have a contract to lease the OS for 95 more years - I doubt that means we can move out and sub-let it to Katy Perry, given that's what the stadium owners already do. That'd mean a new owner would have to BUY the OS then build us a new stadium - it doesn't stack up to me.

something worth reading for a change. Let’s hope your right.. particularly about building a new stadium in newham.. hopefully one that holds 30,000 and all terracing

Re: Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
There’s nobody out there who would take on the OS and build us a new stadium. Nobody.

Re: Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
It is a bit far fetched but I’m sure there is a get out clause in there somewhere.

Re: Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
No chance of a take over if we are relegated.

The Dildos wouldn't accept the massive drop in valuation of the club, that would bring. Even if they did, big risk for new owners that we would get promoted quickly, Championship very difficult to get out of.

Also, why would new owners build a new stadium? The current one, for all it's faults, sells out every week.

Eerie Descent 2:10 Sun Jun 28
Re: Some Light At The End of the Tunnel ?
Surely they'd just buy the OS and build a cheap athletics stadium elsewhere?
